From 10 to 19 May 2024, the 21st edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity will take place in Katowice (for the sixth time in the Silesian Voivodeship). The slogan of this year’s edition is ‘In relation to the world’. The programme of the Silesian version of the festival includes 40 film titles.
The event will include film screenings and discussions focusing on topics discussed in the films, as well as accompanying meetings.
Employees of the University of Silesia will take part in the festival screenings at the Światowid cinema in Katowice:
- on Monday, 13 May at 7.00 p.m. as part of the ‘Film Meetings with Psychology’ series, there will be a screening of a film focusing on an aging couple of artists entitled Two Strangers Trying Not To Kill Each Other with a commentary by Agnieszka Skorupa, PhD from the Institute of Psychology of the University of Silesia,
- on Thursday, 16 May at 6 p.m., a screening of the film Mountain Ride is planned, and after the screening, Alicja Pietras, PhD from the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Silesia in Katowice will talk about the new way of seeing nature,
- on Sunday, 19 May at 6:00 p.m. a talk will take place featuring Prof. Grzegorz Hańderek (Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice) and Prof. Piotr Skubała (Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia) about the relationship between man and nature, ecosystem entanglements and the wildness in man, followed by the screening of the documentary Sowing the Seeds of the Wild.
