From 12 to 21 May 2023, the 20th edition of Millennium Docs Against Gravity will take place in Katowice (for the fifth time in the Silesian voivodeship). It is the biggest documentary film festival in Poland.
Festival events and screenings are organised in the Światowid cinema, Kosmos cinema and Rialto cinema-theatre. 41 films from around the world will be screened. The screenings will also be accompanied by 20 special events.
As part of the festival, meetings and debates focusing on the topics discussed in the films are planned. There will also be two competitions:
- main competition for the Silesian voivodeship audience award,
- competition for the award of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, Jakub Chełstowski, for the best environmental film.
During the event, two screenings are planned as part of the series ‘Film meetings with psychology’ in the Światowid cinema in Katowice:
- 13 May at 6.00 p.m. – the film ‘After Work’ with the introduction by psychologist Łukasz Jach, PhD from the Institute of Psychology of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Details can be found on the website of the Światowid cinema.
- 21 May at 3.30 p.m. – the film ‘Body Parts’ with the introduction by sexologist Agnieszka Wiszniewicz from the Student Service Centre of the University of Silesia. Details about the meeting can be found on the cinema’s website.
