The screening of the film The Chronology of Water (USA, France, Latvia, 2025, 128 min.) takes place on Monday, 13 April 2026 May at 5.30 p.m. in the Światowid studio cinema (ul. 3 Maja 7, Katowice). The event is organised as part of the ‘Film Meetings with Psychology’ series.
The entire film centres on the female body. It’s through her body that Lidia—the lead character played by Imogen Poots—discovers joy and pain, she experiments with her body, tries to escape it, trains it, disciplines and neglects it, and ultimately drawing her strength from it. The story starts when Lidia’s a little girl, closely shadowed by her father’s watchful gaze. This powerful, deeply affecting adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s autobiographical novel brilliantly converts words into striking images by confronting painful memories, surrendering to imagination, shifting between chaos and control, yet always pushing forward with the quiet determination of a seasoned swimmer.
The movie is Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, that was met with a standing ovation.
The discussion will be hosted by Bartosz Konieczniak – a psychologist, expert in addiction psychotherapy, graduate in Psychology from the University of Silesia.
