The Polish-Ukrainian family picnic will take place on Saturday 30 July 2022 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at Plac Sławika i Antalla in Park Powstańców Śląskich and nursery at ul. Uniwersytecka 15 in Katowice.
Numerous attractions for families with children are planned during the event. There will also be thematic zones:
- culture zone (stage at Plac Sławika i Antalla, Park Powstańców Śląskich) – performances by Polish and Ukrainian bands, performance on African drums, an exhibition of works by a Ukrainian painter;
- free of charge fun zone (plac Sławika i Antalla, Park Powstańców Śląskich, nursery) – magicians, stilt walkers, inflatables, animations for children, thematic fun zones for families with children, face painting, macrame workshops, stone painting, building ecological toys and musical instruments, henna tattoos, games with therapy dogs, colourful plaits, photobooth, workshops on making blue and yellow wreaths and braided bracelets, photoshoot in Ukrainian costume, XXL soap bubbles, balloon animals, miniature golf, glitter tattoos, toddler’s corner, walking and dancing robots, and a large plushy to take a picture with it;
- health zone – National Health Service [NFZ] information point (where you can make the European Health Insurance Card), Social Insurance Institution [ZUS] point (where you can create an account on the Electronic Services Platform), dietary counselling point, free medical examinations (glucose, cholesterol, saturation, arterial pressure, display of alcohol-related impairment of senses, educational stand on first aid, a campaign against addictions;
- free food zone (Park Powstańców Śląskich, nursery) – zero waster workshops (cooking cold soup and chicken dish with their tasting), coffee, tea, beverages, healthy sweets, barista show with coffee tasting, Ukrainian pierogi and buns with cabbage tasting, popcorn, cotton candy, stand of the “Z Liścia” restaurant, żurek (sour rye soup), lemonade;
- Colour Festival (nursery).
During the picnic, there will be numerous games with prizes, e.g. wheel of fortune, sports games, and a contest of the Silesian dialect.
The participants may also make the Katowice Resident Card.
Due to a limited number of parking spots, the organisers recommend using public transport and interchange stations in Brynów, Zawodzie, Ligota.
