Come to the Rialto Cinema Theatre in Katowice on 14 October for a real celebration of science in a spectacular setting – the FameLab 2025 National Final!
This unique event combines passion, excitement, and science in a format straight out of a talent show. On stage, we will see the best young scientists from all over Poland face an extraordinary challenge in just three minutes: to talk about complex scientific issues in a simple, clear, and charismatic way. Sounds impossible? This is where the magic of FameLab lies – here science meets the art of storytelling, and each performance is a mini-spectacle full of energy and inspiration.
It is not only a competition, but also an opportunity to see how scientists can captivate an audience and prove that science is not just about laboratories and books, but, above all, fascinating stories that can change the way we look at the world.
FameLab is the world’s largest science communication competition, born in 2005 in Cheltenham (the United Kingdom), and has since captured the hearts of audiences on every continent. Local editions of the competition were organised in over 30 countries on all continents with a total of 40,000 participants. From Australia to Malaysia, South Africa, Switzerland and the UK, scientists have proven that knowledge draws you in as much as the best show. Polish audiences are familiar with FameLab thanks to the British Council Foundation and the Copernicus Science Centre, which organised it between 2012 and 2021. Now, after a break of several years, the competition has returned to the national scene thanks to the University of Silesia in Katowice, the leader of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 celebrations. It is our university that has become the host of this international event for the next three years, giving young researchers the space to showcase their talent, passion and charisma.
The national final will see up to 12 participants selected in the semi-finals. Each will stand in front of an audience and jury with just three minutes to tell their scientific story – without slides, notes, or flashy props. They will be judged on the content, clarity of the message, and charisma (the 3C principle).
Financial prizes await the winners, and a unique opportunity to represent Poland at the international final of FameLab International at CERN in Geneva, one of the most important research centres in the world. It is a ticket to the world science stage and an opportunity to show that Polish research passion and communication skills can delight a global audience.
Come, see and let yourself be enthralled by science – we can guarantee lots of excitement, knowledge in an attractive form, and unforgettable performances. You can’t afford to miss it!
