Concert at Radio Katowice | Lutosławski – Genius of New Form

The concert featuring Witold Lustosławski music by musicians of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice entitled ‘Lutosławski – A Genius of the New Form takes place at Radio Katowice (ul. Ligonia 29, Katowice).

Musicologists consider Witold Lutosławski to be one of the greatest composers of all time, alongside Fryderyk Chopin and Karol Szymanowski. The most prominent representative of Polish contemporary music is also believed to be among the classics of 20th-century music, along with Bela Bartók, Sergei Prokofiev and Olivier Messiaen.

The programme includes:

  • Miniature for 2 Pianos/4 Hands;
  • Epitaph for Oboe and Piano;
  • Grave Metamorphoses for Cello and Piano;
  • Lullaby and Subito for Violin and Piano;
  • Children’s Songs for Voice with Piano.

The event will be hosted by Ed. Beata Tomanek from Radio Katowice and Prof. Maciej Sablik from the University of Silesia in Katowice.

Participation in the event is free of charge. In order to participate, you have to register via a form. Registration is open until 16 May.

The concert will be broadcast online on the University’s YouTube Channel.

The event is carried out within the City-Region-Academia stream as part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024. The event is co-financed by the Silesian Voivodeship – the co-organiser of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.
