The guest of another meeting in the Ecological Thought Club is Ewa Ewart, a journalist and producer of documentary films, multi-awarded director of documentary films, specialising in breakthrough movies, which strongly appeal to the audience. The subject of the event is „Earth – our only common home”.
The meeting will be held online on Facebook and YouTube channels of the University of Silesia. The interview with the guest will be conducted by: Prof. Piotr Skubała from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia, ecologist, acarologist, environmental ethicist, ecological educator, environmental protection and climate activist, as well as Ryszard Kulik, PhD from Pracownia na rzecz Wszystkich Istot, psychologist, ecological activist, mental training coach, ecophilosopher focused on in-depth ecology, author of books and articles dedicated to the relations between human being and nature.
Ewa Ewart was born and grew up in Poland, but she spent a majority of her professional life in Great Britain, working for BBC television. She has travelled and worked in many countries around the world, where she made investigative and political documentaries, as well as programmes on social issues. Her films revealed new information about problems such as corruption in Boris Yeltsin’s Russia, secret prisons in North Korea, and civil war in Colombia. The film called The Curse of Abundance shows the consequences of oilfield exploration for the inhabitants of Yasuni Park in Ecuador and asks the question on the risk we take unless we radically change our approach to extraction of oil in the world. Ewa Ewart has been presenting documentary films on foreign subjects on TVN24 and TVN24bis for a couple of years. She is also a motivational speaker for various target groups, sharing her experiences described in the book entitled Widziałam (I Have Seen).
