The film 10 Years of Zimbardo Centre in Nikiszowec will be screened on Wednesday, 26 June, at 1 p.m., in I. Opacki Lecture Hall (B/0.39) at the USil Faculty of Humanities in Katowice (ul. Uniwersytecka 4).
The film was created at the discretion of the dynamically operating Stowarzyszenie Fabryka Inicjatyw Lokalnych [Factory of Local Initiatives Association]; the film tells the story of establishing the Zimbardo Centre in Nikiszowiec. The Centre has been founded owing to the collaboration between the USil Institute of Psychology and Prof. Phillip Zimbardo. The film, directed by Szymon Nawrat, features primarily the youth associated with the Centre and USil employees: Mirosław Nakonieczny, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof.; Tomasz Nawrocki, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof.; and Michał Brol, PhD, Assoc. Prof. The event will also be a great opportunity to meet social activists from Nikiszowiec: Waldemar Jan and Anna Solińska from the Factory of Local Initiatives Association.

The Zimbardo Centre in Nikiszowiec was founded in 2014, with the contribution of the University of Silesia. Its goal was to become a centre for supporting the local youth. With the lapse of time, it has become one of the most significant points on the map of Nikiszowiec, having many different functions. It is a hub for social and cultural events, as well as those related to the issue of industrial heritage. The Centre consults vital issues of the district.
