On Monday, 23 January 2023, in the Kazimierz Lepszy Lecture Hall, the inaugural session of the scientific council of the regional education programme of the second term, will take place. The council was established under the agreement of the University of Silesia in Katowice with the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship. The session will be opened by the Rector of the University of Silesia, Prof. Ryszard Koziołek and Marshal Jakub Chełstowski.
In November 2022, the Marshal appointed the council, the composition of which was agreed upon with the Rector of the University of Silesia. As in the first term, the council included representatives of various regions of the Silesian Voivodeship: Częstochowa and Żywiec, Zagłębie Dąbrowskie, Upper Silesia and Cieszyn Silesia. They are representatives of various universities and cultural institutions in the Voivodeship: museums, school boards, educational units and institutions.
The tasks of the council include care for preserving and shaping regional identity, creating conditions for the development of regional education, ensuring the cohesion of regional educational programmes, creating a way of transmitting the content of regional cultural heritage and shaping modern regional identity.

- Krystian Węgrzynek, PhD, an employee of the Institute of Regional Research of the Silesian Library in Katowice, secretary of Postgraduate Studies in Regional Knowledge at the University of Silesia.
One of the most important elements of joint activities in the field of regional education is Postgraduate Studies in Regional Knowledge. Currently, the fifth edition of the studies is being organised. Teachers participating in them, under the agreement between the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship and the Rector of the University of Silesia of 27 June 2019, receive funding for their studies from the pool of funds of the Silesian Voivodeship.
