A lecture “Residential schools, Indian Day Schools and Indian Hospitals – colonial legacies” will be held on 7 December 2023 in the Zoom platform.
The lecture focuses on the problem of residential schools for Indigenous children in Canada, as well as Indian Day Schools and Indian hospitals. Andy Wilson examines these topics in the context of the Canadian government’s colonial policies toward Indigenous population and his own life experience. By exposing violence and racist practices – both in schools and hospitals for Indigenous communities – he decolonizes the mainstream Canadian historical discourse.
