On 14 December 2022 at 5.30 p.m. at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia (room B. 0.21/B.0.22) the second meeting in the series Around New Education will take place. The guest of the meeting will be the philosopher of literature, critic and translator Grzegorz Jankowicz, PhD, who will deliver a lecture “The teacher who does not know, or literature, reading and agency”.
Grzegorz Jankowicz, PhD is the programme director of the Conrad Festival, editor of the Culture section of “Tygodnik Powszechny”, director of the literary programmes of the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation, member of the Copernicus Festival Programme Board and collaborator of the Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities of the Jagiellonian University. He is also the author of numerous publications and essays, including: Po co jest sztuka? [What is art for?] Rozmowy z pisarzami (2013) [Conversations with writers], Gombrowicz – Loading. Esej o formie życia (2014) [An essay on the form of life], or Uchodźcy z ziemi Ulro [Refugees from the land of Ulro]. Eseje (2015) [Essays].
After the lecture by Grzegorz Jankowicz, PhD a discussion with the audience will take place. It will be moderated by Tomasz Pawlus, PhD – co-founder and lecturer of Individual Teacher Training Studies at the University of Silesia, teacher of literature, philosophy and ethics, author of reviews and essays on literature and the philosophy of teaching.
The cycle Around New Education was born as an initiative related to the new course of Individual Teacher Training Studies at the University of Silesia. It aims to start a discussion on new ways and forms of education (not only academic).
