In April 2025, the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Silesia in Katowice, along with the Trans-Indigena Research Team, will host Cheryl Suzack (Batchewana First Nations), Professor of English and Indigenous Studies, Faculty of Arts and Science and Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto in Canada.
In her research, Prof. Suzack focuses on American and Indigenous law in the context of Indigenous literature, with a particular emphasis on the writing by Indigenous women.

On 3 April (Thursday), 11.45 a.m., room 0.51, in Sosnowiec, Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Suzack will deliver on open lecture entitled ‘Thresholds of Difference within Indigenous Women’s Activism, Or How Indigenous Women Use Culture to Combat State Violence and Restore Community’.
Prof. Suzack will also conduct two seminars on the topic ‘Indigenous Peoples and Climate Justice: Storying the Activism of Indigenous Human Rights Defenders’.
