43rd Inter-university Inauguration of the Academic Year in the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice

On Sunday, 8 October 2023 at 6:00 p.m., the 43rd Inter-university Inauguration of the Academic Year will take place at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice.

Programme of the event

  • 5.45 p.m. – march of the academic retinue in gowns and colour guards from the building of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia in Katowice,
  • 6.00 p.m. – Holy Mass in the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice.

The Holy Mass will be conducted by Senior Archbishop Wiktor Skworc. The homily will be delivered by Sławomir Oder, the Bishop of Gliwice. After the liturgy, the ‘Lux ex Silesia’ award will be presented to Rev. Prof. Jerzy Szymik – theologian and poet, associated in recent years with the scientific community of the University of Silesia. At the end of the ceremony, refreshments will be served and a meeting with poetry and music will be held at the headquarters of the Upper Silesian Pantheon (entrance from ul. Wita Stwosza).
