FameLab Poland 2026 Final

We would like to invite you to attend the final round of the FameLab Poland 2026 competition, held on 9 June at 6.00 p.m. at the Kinoteatr Rialto. This is one of the most important events promoting science communication in Poland that has been showing it is possible to talk about science in an understandable, engaging and inspiring way.

FameLab is an international format combining the world of science with the formula of a spectacular talent show. FameLab is the world’s largest science communication competition with the idea of communicating science and presenting complex scientific issues in an understandable way.

The group of finalists will have as little as three minutes to present their chosen scientific topic in English and in a clear and simple manner, without using a multimedia presentation. All that matters on stage is the participant and their ability to capture the audience and the jury.

The FameLab final is a gripping event that is sure to inspire your own teaching and research presentations. It gives the public the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse scientific research, all presented in an accessible and engaging way.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see some of the best aspiring science communicators in Poland perform live on stage! With its fast-paced, accessible formula and captivating speeches, attending this final is a truly unforgettable experience.

The entrance to the event is free of charge but requires prior registration.

Finalists

Twelve participants, selected from more than a hundred applications from all over Poland, will compete on stage:

  • Karima Afandi, MSc – Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń;
  • Rami Altabbouche, MSc – Medical University of Łódź;
  • Juliusz Chojenka, PhD Eng. – Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Kraków;
  • Martyna Czarnomska, MSc – University of Gdańsk;
  • Piotr Falkowski, PhD Eng. – Łukasiewicz Research Network – PIAP;
  • Michał Kucała, MSc Eng. – Kraków University of Technology;
  • Mariya Mathew, MA – University of Silesia in Katowice;
  • Marta Sałek, MSc Eng. – University of Warsaw;
  • Tomas Senda, MSc – NASK – National Research Institute;
  • Dagmara Stasiowska, PhD Eng. – AGH University of Kraków;
  • Anna Wolny, PhD Eng. – Silesian University of Technology;
  • Angelika Żurawska, MA – University of Opole.

Jury

The final speeches will be judged by a committee consisting of:

  • Karol Jałochowski (Foundation for Polish Science);
  • Marcelina Jureczko, PhD Eng. (Silesian University of Technology);
  • Kat Phillips, PhD (University of Warwick);
  • Anna Ślązak (PAP Science in Poland);
  • Agnieszka Turska-Kawa, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof., (Vice-Rector for Research, University of Silesia) – Head of the Committee.

Awards

The winners will receive financial prizes of PLN 9,000 (1st place), PLN 6,000 (2nd place) and PLN 3,000 (3rd place). The winner of the national final will also represent Poland at the FameLab International final.

The event is organised by the University of Silesia in Katowice, together with the Academic Consortium – Katowice the City of Science. The event is co-hosted by the City of Katowice and the Metropolis GZM.
