Secret UŚ – discover the University of Silesia!
The goal of Secret UŚ is to teach learners of Polish several interesting facts about the University of Silesia and its campus cities. The project is also an opportunity to learn Polish and increase knowledge about Poland.
We are planning to carry out this task in an unconventional way, using an escape room game led by Magdalena Knapik, employee of the School of Polish Language and Culture, as well as the Secret UŚ animation series.
Meet the authors and play the quiz
Meet the authors of Secret UŚ animations and play the quiz online on 15 June, 4 p.m. (CET). The meeting will be hosted by Magdalena Knapik.

Escape Room – task completed
The participants are closed in a virtual room. Their task is to find the key to leave the room. Going through the subsequent stages of the game, by solving tasks and puzzles, they obtain information which will consequently let them open the closed door.
And there are prizes waiting for them behind the door! Gadgets and gifts from the University of Silesia and Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.
The game will be held online via Zoom. Registration is necessary.
Organised groups are registered by the Polish language teachers.

Magdalena Knapik
Motto: Polish is fantastic!
Magdalena Knapik teaches Polish as a foreign language at the School of Polish Language and Culture. She conducts classes at the Postgraduate Studies in Teaching Polish Culture and Language to Foreigners and Postgraduate Studies in Regional Knowledge. She is also a lecturer at the Academy of Diplomacy of the University of Silesia. She has worked at the University of Silesia since 2004.
Magdalna Knapik has extensive international experience. She has participated in educational missions and fairs abroad, conducting classes and workshops in Polish language e.g. in Belarus, Brasil, Georgia, China, Canada, Moldova, Germany, Russia, USA, Ukraine and Great Britain.
In Poland, apart from classic language classes, Magdalena Knapik also organises and co-organises events which familiarise foreigners with Polish traditions, including Polish cuisine. Her favourite Polish dish is żurek.
„Escape Room – university edition” is her original idea. Engaging foreigners in solving puzzles is a good addition to traditional classes. The proper adjustment of instructions to different target groups allows to get involved in the game also the individuals who have just started to learn Polish.
Magdalena Knapik is the winner of „Graduate with Passion” contest in 2013. She received the „Person of Merit for the University of Silesia” badge for her work.
The project is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange under the Foreign Promotion programme.
