A delegation from Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) visited the University of Silesia in Katowice on 14 October 2025.
SISU was represented by Li Yansong, the Rector; Feng Hui, Director of SISU Office of Confucius Institute; Xu Hong, Dean of the School of Russian and Eurasian Studies; Huang Yiwei, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; and Mao Rui, Director of the Polish Programme at the School of Russian and Eurasian Studies.
The delegation was received by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, the Rector of the University of Silesia; Prof. Tomasz Pietrzykowski, Vice-Rector for International and Domestic Cooperation; Prof. Jolanta Tambor; Tomasz Gęsina, PhD, Head of the USil Centre for Chinese Language and Culture; Chinese language lecturers: Wiktoria Gołuch, Chun You Jiang; and Emilia Rekosz-Cebula, PhD, Head of the International Cooperation Development Office.
The discussion focused on potential areas of cooperation, including the teaching of Polish and Chinese, and joint educational and research activities.
SISU is a renowned public university in Shanghai, known for its excellence in languages, intercultural communication, and global studies. The university is recognised for its ‘Multilingual+’ Programme, which prepares multilingual and interdisciplinary experts for careers in international organisations, diplomacy, and business. It belongs to the group of the first universities in China to introduce a major in Polish language teaching.
The USil and SISU representatives sealed a scientific and teaching cooperation agreement in 2018; still in force, it enables joint teaching and research activities. The agreement was initiated and is coordinated by Prof. Jolanta Tambor.
