USil takes off with Sławosz

On 6 June, we began preparations for the space flight of Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski planned for 10 June. As part of the ‘We’re Going to Space with Sławosz’ campaign, several lectures and workshops for school students were held at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia. During the event, we also connected with analog astronauts from the Lunares Research Station in Piła. The meeting was hosted by Ewelina Zambrzycka-Kościelnicka from the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Ambassador of the Silesian Science Festival Katowice.

The speakers included members of the teams of Agnieszka Skorupa, PhD from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia, and Izabela Poprawa, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia. Scientists have developed two projects: AstroMentalHealth and Yeast TardigradeGene. Experiments planned by Silesian scientists will be conducted on the ISS by Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, PhD Eng.. For more information about the projects visit the dedicated website.
