The nominees for the 2023 Fryderyk Awards have been announced. The Polish award has been given since 1995 by the Phonographic Academy.

The album Réflexions was nominated in the category of the Album of the Year – Contemporary Music, recorded by Adrian Robak, PhD, Assoc. Prof. from Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia. The album contains diverse music that combines innovative textural and sound solutions and older compositional techniques. The music composed for old instruments breaks the stereotypes about them.

The ‘Camerata Silesia’ Ensemble of Singers was nominated twice, this time in the categories of The Outstanding Recording of Polish Music and Album of the Year – Choral Music. The recognised album called Folk Songs includes four series of folk songs compilations by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.

‘Camerata Silesia’ is a leading chamber singing group in Poland, formed in 1990. The ensemble is especially valued for its performances of contemporary music, as well as interpretations of early music. The Music Director and Ensemble’s Conductor is Prof. Anna Szostak from the USil Faculty of Arts and Educational Science.
