At the Cieszyn campus of the University of Silesia, a new space is taking shape –one that brings together education, the arts, technology, and the social and economic development of the region. The renovated auditorium building will soon become a place where future leaders of the creative sector are educated: environmentally aware, socially responsible, and ready to initiate meaningful change.

The facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure supporting modern study programmes in art, design, multimedia, music, pedagogy, and cultural heritage. The project also includes environmentally responsible measures, such as thermal modernisation and the installation of energy-efficient systems.

On 10 February 2026, the Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice signed a contract with the construction contractor for the project entitled: ‘Redevelopment of the Auditorium Building at ul. Paderewskiego in Cieszyn (SpinART – Centre for Artistic and Cultural Education).’ The contractor is BIT GLOBAL Sp. z o.o. The project is scheduled for completion on 31 December 2027.

The project aims to adapt the infrastructure of the University of Silesia campus in Cieszyn to current labour market needs, the challenges of digital transformation and the transition towards a green economy, as well as the region’s smart specialisations. As a result of this investment, it will be possible to:

  • develop students’ competencies and practical skills related to the creative industries,
  • involve entrepreneurs and community leaders in the existing educational programmes,
  • create a space for free artistic expression and knowledge exchange,
  • expand knowledge of information and communication technologies, including modern technologies, communication systems, and data protection,
  • strengthen the ability to work actively with data, including data processing and analysis, understanding visual data, and informed decision-making,
  • enhance technical know-how, including knowledge of technologies, production processes, and machine operation,
  • improve personal and interpersonal skills, such as adaptability in the workplace, readiness for change, decision-making abilities, communication skills, teamwork, and the capacity to revise decisions based on experience and new knowledge.

The scope of the project includes the preparation of design documentation, construction and installation works, improvements to accessibility, and the adaptation of the building to function as a modern teaching and learning centre.

The launch of SpinART – the University of Silesia’s Centre for Artistic and Cultural Education – will positively impact the lives of the region’s residents by creating conditions for the development of a highly qualified workforce sought after on the labour market. An interdisciplinary approach to education will better prepare graduates for work in complex and rapidly changing professional environments.

High-quality educational infrastructure will enable cooperation with academic institutions across Europe and contribute to raising the standard of education for young people in Silesia. In the long term, the project will help counteract outward migration and increase the overall attractiveness of the region.

The implementation of the project has been made possible, in particular, thanks to the strong commitment of the Marshal’s Office of the Silesian Voivodeship and the support of two Marshals – Wojciech Saługa and Jakub Chełstowski. The total value of the project amounts to PLN 25,657,262.55, of which PLN 21,808,673.17 constitutes EU funding. The project is co-financed under the European Funds for Silesia 2021–2027 Programme, Priority FESL.10 ‘European Funds for Transformation,’ Measure FESL.10.13 ‘Higher Education Infrastructure for Transformation.’
