In all systems in which friction between elements occurs, the worn materials are subject to destruction. The so-called tribological tests are performed in order to assess the wearing process. This involves the analysis of material samples with regard to their usage.
Various parameters are defined during the tribological tests, such as resistance to wear and value of resistance to motion. The analyses are performed using special holders and testers for sliding and rolling friction in different systems.
One such holder has been designed by Dr Marek Bara from the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Silesia in Katowice. The solution covered by patent protection will be applied in the machine for performing roll-plate type tribological tests in rolling motion.
