The University of Silesia in Katowice has signed an agreement with the Centro de Investigación Cientifica y Cultural in Guatemala. The cooperation will include student, doctoral student, and employee exchange, guest lectures, seminars, symposiums, study visits, consultations, joint courses and degree programmes, scientific publications, participating in educational projects, and conducting research.
So far the cooperation focused on intercultural research projects on transactional passivity and the needs of educators. These activities were implemented from 2017 to 2021 in Guatemala, Poland, Ukraine, and Great Britain. As part of further cooperation, there are plans to use the original tool Educational Needs Questionnaire (ENQ) designed by Edyta Widawska, PhD, DLitt, and Anna Pierchała, PhD, to research the Maya community living in territories surrounding the Atitlán Lake.
Edyta Widawska, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor from the Faculty of Social Sciences signed the agreement on behalf of the University of Silesia, while the Centro de Investigación Cientifica y Cultural was represented by Domingo Yojcom Rocché, PhD, founder of the institution.
