The Ministry of Education and Science awarded scholarships to outstanding young scientists for the 17th time. Among the 215 winners were 6 scientists from the University of Silesia in Katowice.
This year’s edition saw 1719 applications for scholarships in all 47 scientific and artistic disciplines They were assessed by the consulting team, which took into consideration, among others, scientific publications and artistic works as well as practical applications of results obtained in scientific research or development works conducted by the applicant.
The scholarships were available to people employed by the University and having a young scientist status, i.e. doctoral students and academics who do not yet have a scientific title of a doctor or obtained the title of a doctor no longer than 7 years ago.

In humanities:
- Bartosz Stopel, PhD, Associate Professor from the Faculty of Humanities (literary studies),
- Ewa Bartos, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor from the Faculty of Humanities (literary studies),
In medical and health sciences:
- Wioleta Cieślik, PhD from the Faculty of Science and Technology (pharmacology and pharmacy).
In social sciences:
- Agnieszka Miarka, PhD from the Faculty of Social Sciences (security studies),
- Anna Muś, PhD from the Faculty of Social Sciences (political science and public administration),
- Konrad Graczyk, PhD from the Faculty of Law and Administration (law),
The total amount of scholarships awarded by the Ministry in 2022 equals PLN 42 million. The winners will receive PLN 5,390 a month for three years.
