In the latest prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, the University of Silesia in Katowice was ranked among the top 2092 universities in the world. In the national classification, the University of Silesia was ranked between 27 and 40 places.
Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 uses 18 indicators grouped into 5 key areas with specific percentage weights affecting the overall score:
- Teaching – 29,5%
- Research environment (productivity, reputation and research income) – 29%
- Research quality (citation impact, research strength, excellence, and influence) – 30%
- International outlook (international students, staff, cooperation) – 7,5%
- Industry (industry income, patents) – 4%
In this year’s edition, our University scored highest in the Teaching and Research Environment categories, placing 20th and 22nd nationally respectively.
The ranking is based on institutional data sourced directly from the universities, academic reputation surveys conducted by Times Higher Education among academics worldwide and bibliometric data provided by Elsevier.
