Philosopher writing about literature. Creator of deconstructionism, author of dissertations on philosophy, literature, anthropology, linguistics, psychoanalysis and painting. Assistant at Sorbonne (1960-1964), professor at École Normale Supérieure (1965–1984) and Director of École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Member of the Groupe de Recherches sur l’Enseignement Philosophique (from 1975), co-creator of College Internationale de Philosophie and The Yale school. He lectured at American universities and was an inspirer of the critical movement in literary and philosophical studies. He received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Cambridge and other universities.
