As part of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) project ‘Science will give us the future. University of Silesia at Expo 2025’, a group of scientists and artists from the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science of the University of Silesia presented the offer of the innovative Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters ‘DigiCrea’ degree programme and the possibilities of studying artistic fields using the latest technologies.
Thanks to Adrian Robak, PhD. Assoc. Prof., coordinator of the international programme ‘DigiCrea’ from the University of Silesia, and Kaja Renkas, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof., participants of the event could take part in creative workshops using artistic works. The workshop offer met with great interest from both younger and older audience members.
The Chopinteractive artistic project turned out to be a huge success. Chopinteractive is a combination of works by Frédéric Chopin performed live by Agnieszka Kopińska, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. with contemporary compositions by Krzysztof Gawlas, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. (author of the concept) and computer graphics created live by Prof. Kaja Renkas and Iwona Pomianowska, PhD. It is an extraordinary encounter with the music of Frédéric Chopin in a modern version, which combines the sound of the piano with electroacoustic music and a dynamic video layer.
The project is also an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the University of Silesia and Japanese partner universities. On 1 July 2025, representatives of the university authorities, including Prof. Tomasz Pietrzykowski, Vice-Rector for International and Domestic Cooperation, and Aleksandra Pieniążek, Vice-Chancellor, together with employees of the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science of the University of Silesia visited Tokyo University of Technology – School of Media Science. Cooperation with the university is particularly important in terms of artistic disciplines, the ‘DigiCrea’ project, as well as areas such as biotechnology, modern technologies and AI.
