On 1 May 2025, the next edition of the international Interreg Europe programme began. The University of Silesia, as the leader of the consortium, has undertaken cooperation with nine partners from Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Moldova and Lithuania.

Our university, together with its partners, is implementing the SOCORE project – Social Competences for Research and Innovation Infrastructure. The aim of the initiative is to support the exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practices between European regions, as well as the joint development of innovative solutions in the area of public policies.

The SOCORE project was created in response to one of the key challenges facing the modern research and innovation system – the mismatch of competences, especially soft and social ones, of employees employed in the Research and Innovation Infrastructure (RII) to the dynamically changing needs of the market of cooperation between science and business.

The main goal of the SOCORE project is to reduce the competence gap between employees of the research and innovation infrastructure and the current requirements of the market based on knowledge transfer. This goal will be achieved thanks to research conducted by the consortium partners and the implementation of the developed solutions. The SOCORE project adopts a strategy of co-creation and open innovation to ensure the consistent use and implementation of the obtained results. The steps taken to ensure the expected results include exchanging good practices, thoroughly researching the region and strengthening cooperation between consortium members from different research and innovation models. The basis for assessing the research outcomes resulting from the SOCORE project is included in the ‘Policy Brief on Skills for Innovation’ and the European Skills Agenda, which draw attention to the importance of soft and social competences as strategic for the proper development of green, digital and innovative transformations.

The SOCORE project highlights the importance of developing the competences of human resources in research and innovation infrastructure, along with the development of physical infrastructure, in order to best utilise the potential of the area of cooperation between science and business.

Be sure to to follow the project activities on the website and on Facebook.

The SOCORE project is co-financed by the European Union.
