The International Women’s Day was established on 28 February 1909, but the celebrations ended up getting moved to 8 March. The Women’s Day has its beginning in strikes organised by women from New York, United States, who demanded higher wages, better working conditions, and voting rights. The foundation of women’s rebellion in the name of what is good is still alive.
Today, we would like to honour the exceptional Ukrainian women, who make it possible for their children and family to escape the atrocities of war and offer them safety and hope, which is needed even in the most friendly countries of refuge.
We wish you all, those in Ukraine and those outside it, strength and tenacity in carrying this horrific burden of war as well as unwavering hope of coming back to the life of peace and freedom – in free and independent Ukraine.
