The University of Silesia in Katowice was ranked first in Poland’s Best Employers 2023 by Forbes magazine in the ‘education and research’ category.
Our University was ranked 51st on the general list of 300 companies and institutions selected from among 1,900 employers with at least 250 employees. The ranking was based on individual talks between analysts and employees of companies and institutions. The interviewees expressed their opinions regarding seven areas:
- image and growth (e.g. subjective opinion on employment growth and general opinion on the employer),
- development and prospects (personal development opportunities, subjective feeling of appreciation for the work performed),
- employee relations and management (e.g. competitiveness at the workplace, nurturing the culture of cooperation),
- pay (e.g. assessment of responsibility in work performed and the remuneration received, perks and benefits for employees),
- sustainability (e.g. awareness of ecological responsibility, employer’s actions regarding environmental protection),
- workload (e.g. holiday policy, the flexibility of working hours),
- working conditions and equipment.
Due to the level of financing, higher education institutes cannot compete with commercial entities when it comes to correspondingly rewarding remuneration; therefore, we are happy and proud that the University of Silesia is perceived as a good employer by many of its employees, representatives of companies and institutions
