Description of the week
Week #19 of 50 Weeks in the City of Science is Breath Week. The event is part of the European City of Science programme, which will last throughout 2024.
What is breathing? It is a process necessary for life, which we can think about from many perspectives: physiological, psychological, artistic… Sometimes we say: ‘I need a breather’ when we feel that it is time to rest or take a break. During Breath Week, we will look at breathing from different perspectives.
We are planning scientific conferences on education and music therapy, during which we will consider respiratory functions in movement and dance and learn the results of research on music therapy in various diseases and disorders. We will see how breathing and working with it can help you achieve a better quality of life. We will listen to concerts with a brass band and other bands, as well as medical lectures.
What are we planning during Breath Week?
- International Conference ‘Breath, Music and Music Therapy’
- concerts of the Academic Brass Band
- concerts, workshops and meetings for children, adults as well as seniors
- lectures, talks and presentations on preventive and health-promoting aspects
