Dancing on the clouds directed by Michał Mieszczyk – a Film and Television Directing graduate from the Faculty of Radio and Television of the University of Silesia – won first prize at the 13th Hommage à Kieślowski 2024 in Sokołowsko.
In this year’s edition, two equal main prizes were awarded for feature films. Michał Mieszczyk’s film was awarded alongside a short film entitled Through You, After You directed by Jędrzej Górski from the Warsaw Film School.
Dancing on the clouds tells a story of how Patryk tries to get his life in order by starting a relationship with Maja and becoming a proper father for her two-year-old son Mati. He decides to become a co-conspirator in drug trafficking to earn money for the wedding. Unexpectedly, Mati’s biological father comes from abroad and seems to represent everything Patryk lacks: stability, security, and affluence. Patryk’s dreams get challenged by the harsh reality.
