On 5 October 2024, the premiere of the musical The Little Prince and the Aviator took place at the Katowice City of Gardens cultural centre.

This cyber-musical is a groundbreaking production that bridges the worlds of art and the latest technological achievements. In collaboration with Platige Image, the studio known for visual effects in international hits like The Witcher and Wonder Woman, the show combines traditional theater with the cyber world in an impressive display. Audiences are drawn into an immersive experience where colorful visualisations, lifelike characters, digitally created worlds, and deep soundscapes surround them from every angle.

The Katowice City of Gardens stage was specially redesigned for this production, which uses Unreal Engine technology to bring the experience to the theater. This production required the creation of 70 virtual scenes, a feat that would have been impossible without this innovative technology.

For the first time in Polish musical theater history on such a scale, Broadway creators and Polish musical artists joined forces. Bartosz Listwan, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor at the Institute of Musical Arts at the University of Silesia in Cieszyn, was among those involved in this endeavor. Graduates from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice—Rafał Szatan, Michał Lech, Marta Florek, and Magdalena Krzywda-Krzasteczko—also contributed to the musical.

The entire production was based on an original script and was an American-Japanese-Polish co-production.

The show will run until 29 December 2024.
