The 34th Trieste Film Festival took place on 12-21 January 2023. The laureates included individuals associated with the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia in Katowice.

Two prizes: audience award for the best documentary film and Transeuropa Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso were awarded to Piotr Rosołowski, Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School graduate, for the film Syndrom Hamleta (Hamlet’s Syndrome, 2022), which he co-directed with Elwira Niewiera. The jury appreciated the film’s deep reflection on the problem of choice and the attempt to reconcile the individual and collective perspectives.

The festival also recognised Prof. Krzysztof Zanussi, a lecturer of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia. He was awarded with Eastern Star, a prize granted to the filmmakers who build bridges between the Eastern and Western cultures.

The full list of laureates is available on the 34th Trieste Film Festival website.
