The University of Silesia in Katowice continues to strengthen its close relations with South Korea. On 12 May, the University welcomed His Excellency Jun Youl Tae, the new Ambassador of South Korea to Poland. During a meeting with the Rector of the University of Silesia, Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, and representatives of the University, discussions focused on ongoing and planned cooperation between the University and South Korean institutions.
Representatives of the University of Silesia presented, among other topics, the activities of the King Sejong Institute, Korean Studies as a new study programme at the Faculty of Humanities, cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center in Warsaw, and the Poland–South Korea Cooperation Centre at the University of Silesia.
The meeting was attended on behalf of the Embassy of South Korea in Poland by Ambassador Jun Youl Tae, Counsellor Jong Suk Yoon, and Specialist Muyeol Shin. Representing the University of Silesia were Rector Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Vice-Rector for International and Domestic Cooperation Prof. Tomasz Pietrzykowski, Director of the King Sejong Institute at the University of Silesia, Paweł Zakrajewski, PhD, Assoc. Prof, Head of the Centre for Poland–South Korea Cooperation at the University of Silesia Dr Chang-Il You, and Head of the International Cooperation Development Office, Emilia Rekosz-Cebula, PhD.
