We are back with a new edition of Data Steward School 2026, organised by the European Open Science School (EOSS) at the University of Silesia in Katowice!
Data Steward School is an intensive upskilling and competence – development programme in the fields of Research Data Management (RDM), Open Science, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), and the responsible use of data and AI in research.
This year’s edition will have a distinctly international dimension. Katowice will bring together participants and more than 15 experts from Poland and abroad, representing universities, research organisations, European infrastructures, and communities supporting the advancement of Open Science.
DSS 2026 consists of three modules:
- Module I – Intensive on-site course
6–10 July 2026
On-site, Katowice
54 hours of workshops, lectures, and hands-on practical work with experts. - Module II – Specialisation
October 2026
Online
20 hours within one of 6 specialisation tracks, delivered by international experts team. - Module III – Mentoring
October–December 2026
Online / on-site / hybrid
Individual one-to-one work with selected mentors.
DSS is a space for researchers, data stewards, librarians, research managers, IT specialists, and university administrative staff who wish to develop the competencies needed for data-intensive and AI-driven, responsible research.
Participants will receive a certificate, a micro-credential, and 5 ECTS credits. DSS 2026 also offers an opportunity to join an international community of alumni, experts, and school partners, further developed through annual networking meetings.
