The Pro Silesia Business – Science – Local Government Association announced the evaluation results of the pilot Śląskie.Lab competition, launched as the first stage of preparations for the implementation of the Scientific Programme for Silesia – a strategic initiative supporting the Silesian academic community in conducting scientific research and artistic creation serving the development of the region.
Twenty-eight applications were submitted in the competition. The applications then passed the formal assessment and were subjected to an evaluation process by experts. Five projects were recommended for funding, selected for their high research potential and contribution to strengthening the region’s metropolitan functions. The total value of the applications submitted by the recommended projects was PLN 4,625,717.33, with a competition budget of PLN 1,000,000. The scale of interest in the competition and the high level of submissions confirm the significant research potential of the Silesian academic community.
Among the projects recommended for funding were two projects carried out by scientists from the University of Silesia:
- ‘Many Cities or One City? Social Perception of the Current and Future Conditions of Functioning of Metropolis GZM’

The Śląskie.Lab competition is a pilot selection process for a call aimed at developing a model for the target Scientific Programme for Silesia. The recommendation to fund two projects led by employees of the University of Silesia confirms the university’s active role in shaping the socio-economic development of the region and the high level of research conducted here.
