On the occasion of the 50-year anniversary of Czech Studies at the University of Silesia, the Faculty of Humanities in Sosnowiec (ul. gen. S. Grota-Roweckiego 5) will host a unique student show entitled ‘Things we were taught in the primary school – Fun in school!’ The event takes place on 29 January 2025, at 1-2.30 p.m. in the Faculty Council Room.
The event includes:
- A recitation of Julian Tuwim’s Locomotive in Czech – a second-year student will recall her memories from her school years, reminding us that Czech Studies is not only about learning a language but also about having fun with literature.
- An interpretation of Karel Jaromír Erben’s The Water-Goblin – a classical Czech poem in a modern release, recited by third-year students.
- Riddles by poet Radek Malý – unconventional recitations of riddles, showing the beauty and humour of Czech poetry.
- A theatrical spectacle Czech Sky – fourth-year students will present a play inspired by Jára Cimrman’s repertoire in the spirit of Jan Amos Comenius’ philosophy and his motto that school should be fun.
The event will have a side event in the form of an exhibition dedicated to Franz Kafka, lent by the Czech Centre in Warsaw.
The event celebrates the half-century period of Czech Studies at the University of Silesia, and this extraordinary jubilee deserves a fabulous celebration together!

Co nás učili na základce, aneb “škola hrou”!
Představení studentů bohemistiky má jeden společný leitmotiv a ten zní: Co nás učili na základce, aneb “škola hrou”!
Vzpomenete si ještě na recitaci básniček před celou třídou? Tuto vzpomínku vám připomene student 2. ročníku, který vám zarecituje Lokomotivu od Juliana Tuwima, ovšem v českém jazyce. Jsme přeci na bohemistice.
Na základní škole v Česku se všichni žáci povinně učí recitovat jednu z nejslavnějších básní Karla Jaromíra Erbena – Vodník. My vám představíme toto klasické dílo trošku jinak. Voicebandovou recitaci si pro vás připravili studenti 3. ročníku. Aby voicebandu nebylo málo a pořádně jste si ho užili, tak zkusíte hádat odpovědi na hádanky od básníka Radka Malého, které opět netradičně zarecitují třeťáci.
A na závěr zůstaneme věrni odkazu Jana Amose Komenského, který propagoval a šířil své motto „škola hrou“. Studenti 4. ročníku vám zahrají divadelní představení České nebe z repertoáru Divadla Járy Cimrmana.
A proč jsme si pro vás celý tento program připravili?
Naše bohemistika oslavila 50 let působení na Slezské univerzitě. A to už je pořádný důvod k oslavě! Slavte s námi a přijďte se podívat na naše pásmo tradiční i netradiční recitace a zhlédnout divadlo České nebe.
