The inauguration of the 54th academic year at the University of Silesia will take place on 1 October 2021 (Friday) at 11 a.m..
During the event, new students and PhD students of the University of Silesia will take the academic oath. The inauguration will feature the “Pro Scientia et Arte” awards, which are to honour the University of Silesia employees for their outstanding scientific and artistic achievements. The winners in 2021 are Prof. Halina Rusek from the Faculty of Social Sciences for her outstanding scientific achievements in social sciences and Prof. Stanisław Kucharski from the Faculty of Science and Technology for his outstanding scientific achievements in natural sciences.
During the inauguration, Prof. Grażyna Borkowska from the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences will deliver her first academic lecture this year entitled “Several remarks on our (Polish) mentality.”
