We wish to invite you to the final of the Polish edition of FameLab competition, where you can enjoy speeches of Poland’s best science communicators.

FameLab is the world’s largest, public facing, science communication competition and training programme; it will be hosted at the University of Silesia for the first time, all within the European City of Science Katowice 2024. The spectacular format of the event won the hearts of audiences from all around the globe not without reason. The finalists—PhD students and early-stage academics from around Poland—are to charm the public with their scientific passion within three minutes.

Participants of the national FameLab finals in Katowice will be assessed by a professional jury consisting of scientists and specialists in science communication including:

  • Bartłomiej Gabryś, PhD (University of Economics in Katowice),
  • Prof. Zbigniew Nawrat (Medical University of Silesia in Katowice),
  • David Price (EUSEA, Science Made Simple UK),
  • Agnieszka Turska-Kawa, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. (University of Silesia in Katowice),
  • Aleksandra Ziembińska-Buczyńska, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. of the Silesian University of Technology (Silesian University of Technology).

The final will take place on Tuesday, 4 June at 5 p.m. within the modern spaces of USil spinPLACE located at ul. Bankowa 5 in Katowice. The event will be open to all residents of Katowice and the entire region. We believe that the event will foster the role of science and the university in the public space and contribute to communicating science in society.

Once again, we invite everyone interested; exciting experiences and fascinating time spent learning guaranteed!
