The Rector’s Distinctions Gala takes place on Friday, 7 June 2024, at 3 p.m. at the spinPLACE patio (located at ul. Bankowa 5 in Katowice). The already 16th edition is to acknowledge and honour achievements in the following fields: social, cultural, artistic, sport, scientific, popular science, as well as initiating and developing student life.
This year’s competition has reported a total of 75 people applied for the Rector’s Distinctions, including 60 student applications and 15 doctoral applications. The Competition Jury selected a list of 34 competitors to receive the Rector’s Distinction, including 27 students, 7 PhD students of USil Doctoral Schools, and
6 representatives of the Open University (the Children’s University of Silesia, the Teenagers’ University of Silesia and the Third Age University).
During the Friday event, we will also get to know the winners of the Distinctions and the Competition for the Student and Doctoral Student of the Year.
The Gala will feature: Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, the Rector of the University of Silesia; Katarzyna Trynda, PhD, Assoc. Prof – Vice-Rector for Education and Students; the winners together with their relatives and friends, and the authorities of individual faculties, Doctoral Schools and the Open University of the University of Silesia; members of the Competition Jury and representatives of the winners’ home towns.
The Gala’s participants can also enjoy artistic performances by the Student Song and Dance Ensemble ‘Katowice’ and Jakub Czekierda (on piano).
