25.04.2024 - 10:36, update 29.04.2024 - 11:26
Editors: OO

¡Que viva México! We invite you to the celebration of Hispanophone Day at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia in Sosnowiec, which will start on 22 May 2024 at 10.00 a.m. Participation in the event will be possible via the YouTube channel. The main theme of this year’s edition is Mexico.

The main goal of the event is to promote the language and culture of Spain and Spanish-speaking countries among students in our region.

The programme includes lectures by lecturers of Romance Studies (some of them in Polish, some in Spanish) and—as usual—a summarising contest for students.

The coordinators of Hispanophone Day are Aniela Kucharska, PhD and Magdalena Sędek, MA.

Programme

  • Aniela Kucharska, PhD: ‘La Casa Azul – Frida Kahlo’s piece of heaven’
  • Magdalena Sędek, MA: ‘Mexican muralism’
  • Ewa Śmiłek, PhD: ‘The Aztec La Malinche: criminal or heroine?’
  • Juan Pablo Ortiz Ramos, MA: ‘Y tú, además del español ¿sabes hablar náhuatl?’
  • Sandra Lozano González, MA: ‘Raíces y resiliencia: lenguas indígenas y civilizaciones precolombinas de México’
