On 15 October 2024, at 4 p.m., the Katowice Diamond of Education awards gala of Marcin Krupa, PhD, Mayor of Katowice, and Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Rector of the University of Silesia, will be held at the Youth Palace in Katowice.
This special distinction is meant for students of Katowice schools living in our city who not only achieve high academic results, but also succeed in the fields in which awards are granted, i.e. humanities and foreign languages, exact and natural sciences, entrepreneurship, social and civic competences, regional education, culture, arts and sport, and their activities go beyond school walls, where they achieve significant triumphs, developing talents and passions, and inspiring the development of others with their creative, committed and pro-social attitude. The aim of the award is to support the potential of young Katowice residents, promote their talents and achievements, motivate them to improve key competences and create positive role models for school communities.
Cash prizes for the winners were funded by the Mayor of Katowice, while the Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice provided distinctions in the form of vouchers giving the opportunity to participate in the Children and Youth’s University of Silesia programme, a matura exam preparatory course and the Silesian University of the Best.
