Students in Socio-cultural Animation from Cieszyn organise a jubilee 20th edition of the Student Film Review czASKina; the event takes place from 3 to 5 April 2025. This year’s film feast will focus on the cinema and culture of Asia, in particular Japan, Korea and China.

The programme of this year’s edition is addressed to Cieszyn students, pupils, and residents; it includes four film screenings, origami and tea brewing workshops, a show of Yoshinkan Aikido – a Japanese martial art, Chinese meditation, Tai chi, and a presentation of journeys to China. Apart from that, there will be a part for registered groups featuring a field game called Kocia Szajka w Azji addressed to pupils of primary schools in Cieszyn and a show of martial arts for children of the city’s orphanage.

‘This year’s edition will let you discover the culture, customs, trivia, fun facts, and cinematography of the Far East. Free film screenings will take place in the conference room at the University of Silesia in Cieszyn, the auditorium of the Cieszyn Cultural Center COK Dom Narodowy in Cieszyn, and Świetlica Krytyki Politycznej in Cieszyn. There will also be side events taking place at the ‘Panopticum’ Student Club and Herbaciarnia Laja teahouse,’ explain the organisers.

The Student Film Review czASKina is an initiative by students in the degree programme of Socio-cultural Animation at the USil Faculty of Art and Education Sciences, organised with the support of the Cieszyn Cultural Center COK Dom Narodowy and the Cultural Animators’ Student Research Group. The partners of the event are Świetlica Krytyki Politycznej in Cieszyn, Herbaciarnia Laja teahouse, and ‘Panopticum’ Student Club.
