The first Polish Materials Science and Engineering Day (ODIM), an information campaign encouraging young people to discover what kinds of possibilities are created by the development of materials engineering, will take place on 17 March 2023.
ODIM is the result of cooperation among 15 scientific units from entire Poland, i.e. 13 higher education institutions and two institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences under the patronage of the Polish Materials Science Society. The event is co-organised by the Institute of Materials Engineering of the University of Silesia.
It includes two distinct parts: The first part (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) will feature classes for high school students, while the second part (from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.) is scheduled for a ‘Materials family picnic’.
The main event, involving lectures and workshops, is addressed primarily to high school students, but also to university students and technical sciences aficionados.
The afternoon meeting is addressed to all interested people, including children, young people, and adults. This is an exciting way of spending an afternoon for all those who would like to broaden their horizons and learn something new about the materials that surround us, and not just on a daily basis. Additional attractions will be field games for the youngest children and drawing and painting workshops.
ODIM will be held on-site, in the building of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Silesia in Chorzów (ul. 75. Pułku Piechoty 1A.).
