[ONLINE] Introduction to the aesthetics of Ananda Devi – lecture by Prof. Krzysztof Jarosz

At the invitation of Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – branch in Katowice, Prof. Krzysztof Jarosz from the Institute of Literary Studies at the University of Silesia will give a lecture dedicated to the works by Ananda Devi – honorary doctor of the University of Silesia.

The online meetiing is planned for Tuesday, 9 March 2021, at 5 p.m. The lecture “Between East and West. An Introduction to the Aesthetics of Ananda Devi” will be held on MS Teams platform: https://teams.microsoft.com.

Prof. Krzysztof Jarosz is a romanist associated with the Institute of Literary Studies at the University of Silesia. His research interest focuses on the 20th century French novel, modern literature from Quebec and Mauritius as well as literary translation. He is the author of 3 books, editor and co-editor of several monographs, originator and editor-in-chief of two scientific journals: „Romanica Silesiana” (2006–2017) and „TransCanadiana” (2007–2013) as well as the author of over 70 scientific articles published in Poland and abroad.

He is currently working on a critical edition of works by Ananda Devi. The first book in the series entitled “The Green Sari” was released in 2018, the critical edition of “Eve Out of Her Ruins” was published at the end of 2019, whereas the translation of “The Sad Ambassador”, a collection of short stories, came out in March 2020.  Professor’s future plans include the publication of series „Francofonia literaria” dedicated to francophone literature and monograph about the contemporary female novelists in Mauritius (Ananda Devi, Marie-Thérèse Humbert, Shenaz Patel, Nathacha Appanah, Lindsey Collen and Lilian Berthelot).
