A new music event pops up on the cultural map of the region – Open Classics Festival in Beskids, which will serve as an encounter with classical and improvised music accompanied by digital and poster art, as well as photography.
“We want classical music to be open to everyone, not just connoisseurs and music lovers. I believe that our festival will allow more people to open up to and maybe even develop a taste for this kind of sounds”, says pianist Aleksandra Hałat, Director of the Open Classics Festival.
The word “open” in the name of the event also means taking inspiration from the culture of the region and openness to intercultural dialogue, as well as an invitation to partnership for representatives of the technology and digital industries, scientific communities from the Beskid region and beyond.
Open Classics Festival is, of course, a meeting with music – classical and improvised, with a touch of jazz and even folk genres. The festival will feature compositions by F. Chopin, B. Smetana, A. Dvořák, B. Bartók, K. Szymanowski, W. Kilar, and others. The audience will also have the opportunity to hear sound arrangements created for computer games or apps.
Digital arts – animations, photography, posters – will interact with music in various ways, creating visual stories. The programme of the event will be complemented by workshops on creating artistic computer games and designing game music.
The festival events will be held in Bielsko-Biała, Cieszyn, Wisła and Skoczów on 6–11 April 2025. You can participate in most of them free of charge, however, reservations are required. Detailed programme can be found on the event page.
