On Thursday, 22 June 2023, a meeting was held during which an agreement was signed regarding the first virtual classroom in Poland created in cooperation with the Cyber Science Silesian Centre for Legal Engineering, Technology and Digital Competence of the University of Silesia.
The class will be created in Stefan Żeromski High School in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Its aim is to develop digital competences among young people.
During the event, an introductory lecture ‘Czy generatory treści, takie jak chat GPT i sztuczna inteligencja zastąpią człowieka?’ [‘Will content generators such as ChatGPT and artificial intelligence replace the human?’] was delivered by the Director of the Cyber Science Centre, Dariusz Szostek, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof.
The scope of cooperation with the school will include:
- conducting research on digital competences of high school students;
- implementation of workshops during the next edition of the #AIChallenger conference;
- participation in seminars organised by Cyber Science young – young people cooperating with the Cyber Science Centre;
- cyber security training for high school students;
- cooperation with university students;
- conducting classes for students;
- the opportunity to take part in selected university classes;
- workshops for teachers.
On behalf of the University of Silesia, the meeting was attended by: Agnieszka Skołucka, PhD, Chancellor of the University of Silesia, and Dariusz Szostek, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof., Director of the Cyber Science Centre. The school was represented by Elżbieta Rudzka, head teacher and Joanna Prychodko, vice-head teacher. The event was also attended by representatives of the city: Marcin Bazylak, Mayor of Dąbrowa Górnicza, and Marta Bobrowska-Juroff, the Deputy Head of the Education Department.
During the event, students could get acquainted with the offer of the University of Silesia.
