The second seminar or preparing and implementing a new concept of studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice will take place on 9 February 2022 at 4.00 p.m. The lecture Electives, authorities, and their functions. The university of tomorrow in the era of the cognitive apocalypse will be delivered by Michał Krzykawski, PhD, DSc, Associate Professor, the Director of the Centre for Critical Technology Studies. The scientist will make an attempt to clarify the areas and problems that are to be considered so to give the changes in the organisation of university education forced by the evolution of novel technologies a “more desired and safe direction”.

About the seminar
Today, the question about the university of tomorrow revolves around the technology due to two substantial reasons. First, the evolution of technical devices (nowadays called technologies) has profoundly changed the conditions for possibilities of developing knowledge around elective courses and their relationship with the outside of a university. Second, the mode of operation of integrated computing technologies causes disruption, which brutally strikes our minds-brains while shimmering with thousands of faces of venial insanity.
Since in the coming years the aftermaths (epistemological, social, psychological, political, geopolitical, and legal) of this technological shock, we need a new dispute of elective courses, which could transform this new state of de facto into the new state of de jure. The main stake of this dispute is not only the new organisation of science and education at a university. It revolves around cognitive authorities (facultas) and their functions that undergo a hyper-industrial reformation/deformation due to technology at the exact same moment when the youth’s world is falling apart. The changed has already occurred. During my speech, I would like to clarify the areas and problems that are to be considered so to give them a different, more desired and safe direction – to find crossroads and go towards a different direction.
