University of Silesia inaugurated an educational project in cooperation with Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa

An inaugural meeting for the educational project Kopalnia Wiedzy [Knowledge Mine] of the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (JSW) implemented in cooperation with scientists from the University of Silesia took place on 8 June 2022.

On the side of the University of Silesia, the event attended: Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Rector of the University of Silesia, Dariusz Laska, Vice-Chancellor for Development and Industry Cooperation, Izabela Staszewska-Ferens, Director of Open University at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Łukasz Chajec, PhD, Project Coordinator, Joanna Foryś, PhD, Coordinator of the Education and Research Team Unibot, Katarzyna Papież-Pawełczak, President of SPIN-SPIN-US Sp. z o.o., Maria Kwarcińska, Head of the Industry Cooperation Office, Monika Pluta from the Industry Cooperation Office, and Małgorzata Poszwa, Spokesperson of the University of Silesia. Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa was represented by: Tomasz Cudny, President of the Board, Artur Wojtków, Vice-President of the Board for Work and Social Policy, Agnieszka Barzycka-Noga, PhD, Head of the Social Responsibility of Business Team, and Adam Grzesik from the Social Responsibility of Business Team.

The project constitutes a cycle of workshops combined with demonstrations of experiments for elementary school and high school students, and training sessions for the teaching staff and parents of the project participants. The aim of the activities taking place under the project is the promotion of natural and exact sciences among young people. The workshops will be conducted at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
