On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, D. Fernando Martínez-Vara de Rey de Irezábal, the director of the Cervantes Institute in Krakow, will be the guest of the Institute of Political Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice. He will give a lecture at 11.00 in Symposium Room I (Bankowa 11, Katowice) titled “Cervantes Institute and cultural diplomacy”.
Currently, 580 million people in the world speak Spanish, which represents 7.6% of the world population. Of these, 483 million are users for whom it is a native language.
Spanish is also increasingly popular in Poland. The number of people interested in learning it and confirming their competences by DELE diplomas is constantly increasing. Both primary and secondary schools as well as universities and private language schools provide opportunities in this regard. In addition, the Cervantes Institute offers modern language courses, which can be used online in every corner of the globe.
The meeting will therefore be an opportunity to talk about the presence of the Spanish language and culture in Poland and in the modern world.
