On 25 February 2020 the University of Silesia in Katowice was visited by Jeanette Sautner, Political and Social Counsellor at the Embassy of Canada in Poland, who met Prof. Andrzej Kowalczyk, Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice, Prof. Krzysztof Jarosz, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, as well as other representatives of the university authorities.
During her visit, Jeanette Sautner gave an interactive lecture entitled “Canada: Young Country and Country of Youth” at the Faculty of Humanities in Sosnowiec at 12:10 PM. It was attended by the participants of the semi-final of the seventh edition of the Polish National Knowledge about Canada entitled “Discover Canada”, as well as their teachers and students of the University of Silesia. The Counsellor also met the administration of Karol Miarka High School with bilingual programmes in Żory – co-organiser of the competition.
Finally, there was a meeting between Jeanette Sautner and all interested students, particularly students of American and Canadian Studies for Intercultural Communications and Diplomacy.
